When my brother (John, see his blog at: http://dreampotato.blogspot.com/) first told me about "Blogs" I was skeptical, kind of like "who would read someone elses blog, what a stupid idea". Over time I would constantly come across information I had searched for (googled) in "Blogs". And some time later I started becoming jealous of people who had "blogs" and were able to display they opinions, accomplishments, and experience to the world.....and all for free.
This may astonish you but according to www.blogherald.com there could be hundreds of millions of blogs out there. Truth is the techsperts dont know how many blogs are really out there. There are blogs created and abandoned or "dying" all the time. Maybe NASA could help, because when I read that it reminds me of what we know about space...not much, the biggest difference is we created blogs.
So by now you might be wondering why I'm posting. As mentioned in the article on the Blog herald.....blog? There are millions of blogs with useless information. This blog could very well become one of those blogs. But I will do my blest...best to make sure it's somewhat interesting.
I promise to get better at the art of Blogging as well, this is my first post on my first blog so please bear with me.
The art of blogging:
According to blogcritics.org (also a blog), "The technology-enabled facility of quick publishing gives blog posts (and their responses) what can be loosely described as a stream of consciousness style. The immediacy creates a sense of intimacy with the audience, and motivates them to interact with the blogger." This makes sense. It's kind of a "blog first, read responses later" approach. Which is one reason I decided to start a blog in the first place. For the other, I must give credit to a talented actor whos blog made me take the plunge and search for a place to call my blog. Here's how it went down....
I had just finished watching season 5 of "Lost" on dvd (try finding it on cassette, yet when they advertise any movie or tv series release they say: "watch out for ""________"" on DVD this fall".......why?) and I had this inclination to look up the stars of lost on wikipedia.
As I scrolled through the different profiles listing the same types of information for all the different actors (careers, personal life, etc) I came across the page for Jorge Garcia in his personal life section it said he kept a regular blog. I was curious so I clicked (you can click here) and I was blown away (although looking back at it now I'm not sure why) but here he was, a successful actor who did every day things (making bread, slicing and rationing massive blueberries, etc) and blogged them. And by doing so he made me think; most celebrities yearn for privacy (or so we think) and dont like they're personal lives to be public. They are seen (or not seen at all) as reclusive and shy I guess. But here's "Hurley" just showing people what he does for fun, what goes on behind the scenes, and what his dog likes to chew. I think this is pretty cool. In fact I think it's the coolest blog I've ever read, I've only ever read 2 Jorges and Johns (my brother) ..... sorry john.
The third reason for this blog is to keep in touch. I live in North-western Australia, in a small mining town of 5000 people. It's dusty, hot (and cold....sometimes), and isolated. So this blog is to reach out to family and friends whom are still back in Canada (where I came from). But it's also for strangers (good strangers) who may pass through.
This is the definition of rambling right here. I honestly planned to write a quick paragraph or two briefly describing this blog. And here I am on page 8. But that's pretty much all I wanted to say. There....my first Blog...done.
